It was built in the 1900s and sits across from Martin's Point Park in a beautiful wooded setting. Our one bedroom cottage is situated about 75 feet from the water. It is located in a quiet, rural setting.

The town of Sabattus has a population of about 4,000 people. There are no red lights and only a few stop signs. Full service restaurants and carryout is available. (no delivery) Other offerings gas/service stations, hardware store, grocery store, (they even carry your groceries to you car), post office and best of all the people. We even have a Dunkin Donuts now! Maine hospitality, you're only a stranger here once.

Sabattus Pond, is more like a Lake at 1,962 acres. But for all that surface area, it has an average depth of only 14 feet.

Sabattus Pond itself is a clean, clear and warm lake, being no more than 20 feet deep at the deepest part and a mile across which accounts for it’s warm temperature.  Many of  Maine’s lakes are very cold because of the depth and being spring fed. The fishing is good since it is not a heavily fished lake.  The lake also has a family of loons which can be heard throughout the day and into the evening and after sunset, joining in the chorus is frogs and crickets.  There is a beach to swim from and a dock to tie up your boat if you choose to bring one.  Pike are plentiful and make good ice fishing.  According to one report, the large Pike population has improved the White Perch fishing by thinning the stunted populations. No length limits or bag limits exist for Pike.

Sabattus Pond is also known for it's migratory waterfowl sightings. Wood, Teal, Mallard, Black, Scaup, Mergansers, Goldeneye, Coots, Ruddy Ducks, along with Canadian Geese can be seen here from time to time. Incredible duck hunting takes place at the end of the lake.

There is a public boat landing with a small parking lot at Martin's Point, right across the street from the cottage.

The cottage is close to town on a dead-end, well-maintained road. There are fulltime residents close by but with the cottage sitting off of the road you not have the sense of being crowded. There is a Breathtaking view of the lake and park from the two porches on the front and side of the cottage.
